UUA to Cease Funding Continental Youth Leadership

The following is a letter issued by the Continental Young Religious Unitarian Universalists Steering Committee, which is the Committee of Youth Council charged with the maintenance and leadership of YRUU when Continental Youth Council is not in session. It is reprinted from UUlogy.BlogSpot.Com, a blog maintained by the Steering Committee, “meant to distribute information about the end of YRUU continental leadership structure.”

Come June of this year, the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations will cease funding Continental Youth Leadership, ie Continental Youth Council. Without funding, Youth Council will not be feasible, and the current Steering Committee will be the last.

PCD YRUU will remain in it’s entirety, as a separate and independent organization from Continental YRUU. We will feel the effects, this is not an isolated incidence. But PCD YRUU is intact, and this decision is neither meant to, nor can it, apply to our organization. The aforementioned letter follows.

To whom it may concern,

As the continental YRUU Steering Committee, it is with great sorrow that we inform you that on June 30, 2008 the UUA will cease to fund YRUU youth activities at the continental level. Therefore, Youth Council will not be held this summer or in the years to follow and YRUU Steering Committee 2007-2008 will be the last. The UUA will continue to fund and support Youth Caucus at GA and the Chrysalis training program. The work of youth ministry within the UUA will shift to a congregationally based focus.

Auction!

An old tradition is being revived to make some extra WUUKY cash and get stuff of the out going Co-Co-Co’s hand’s.

There will be an Auction at Election CON 2008: CONfetti! Auction items will consist of old Lost & Found items.

Bring some extra cash in small bills and change. If you see something that is your’s, you will get it back free of charge. If you have something from Con at home that isn’t yours, and you want to get it off your hands, bring it!

Electoral Compass

So I am not the one to normally push any sort of political thing, but this was rather interesting.

Electoral Compass USA 

One answers about 30 questions and then gets a graphic indicating where they stand on a political map compared to the primary candidates. The graphic can be modified in a number of ways to focus on specific issues or candidates. Its worth a check for anyone, especially those voting in the up and coming primary.

Chaplain Training Conference

Hey y’all,

We will be holding a Chaplain Training Conference November 30 through December 2nd, 2007. It will be held at the Davis Church in Davis, CA, outside of Sacramento.

Training Conferences are what we call working conferences. That means the focus of this conference will be on training Chaplains for our community, rather than just getting together to have fun. But there’ll still be some of that, of course.
